About FieldToolsHQ
Every pick here is vendor-neutral. No vendor demo, no sponsored post, no recommendation that earns us money if it misleads you.
We pulled every pricing page, read every changelog, and combed the communities where contractors actually hang out — so you can make the call in 10 minutes instead of two weeks. No vendor relationships influence our picks. We earn through affiliate commissions on software trials (disclosed) and by selling operational templates that answer real trade jobs.
What we cover
FieldToolsHQ is built for the solo-to-small-crew home service contractor — HVAC, landscaping, plumbing, pressure washing, painting — who needs to decide which software to run their business, how to write a quote that wins, and how to manage back-office operations without an admin on staff. We focus on the 1-to-10 truck shop. If your operation needs ServiceTitan and a 6-month implementation, this probably isn't your site.
How we research
Every software comparison is built from documented specs, current pricing pages (fetched and verified — not quoted from memory), and the public record of user experience: G2, Capterra, Reddit, and the trade-specific Facebook groups where contractors actually talk about what works and what doesn't. We don't claim to have personally run Jobber on real HVAC jobs. We claim to have read every pricing page, every changelog, and every community thread, and to have synthesized that into a verdict you can act on in 10 minutes.
Every piece of software pricing and affiliate commission data carries a verification date. When pricing changes, we update the post and refresh the date. If a recommendation stops holding up, we change it.
We do not give licensing, legal, insurance, or tax advice. Any content touching those areas ends with: "Requirements vary by state and trade — check your state licensing board and local regulations before proceeding."
How this site makes money
Two ways: affiliate commissions when you sign up for software through our links (at no extra cost to you), and digital product sales (operational template packs — quote sheets, job-costing worksheets, dispatch boards). Display advertising may be added as a baseline layer once the site has meaningful traffic, but it will never crowd out the affiliate CTAs or editorially matter. The full policy is in our affiliate disclosure.
Affiliate relationships never determine a verdict. Several comparison posts on this site rank Workiz or FieldPulse at the top for specific use cases even though we have no confirmed affiliate link for either program.
